This Menghini accordion is a powerful, professional quality instrument. It was to have been a special order for a gent up in Wisconsin who died before really enjoying playing the instrument. I purchased this accordion from an old accordion maestro and repairman in Kansas City.
1) There are 3 middle reeds and one low reed in the treble. The bassoon (low) line of reeds and the middle (clarinet) line are augmented in sound by passing thru a tone-chamber inside of the accordion. The second and third line of reeds (clarinet) are not sounded thru the tonechamber.
2) The accordion is not "wet tuned"; that is tuned to the French or German tuning. Rather, tuned to a clean mellow sound which would be appropriate for any sort of music. All of the polka accordion players I have known do not have a piccolo line of reeds in their accordions, but a 3rd line of clarinet line instead; as is this accordion.
3) The accordion has a mike system with cord & new shoulder straps. The accordion is very compression tight (non-leaking of air). The weight of the accordion is about 27 lbs. A tone-chambered accordion is usually 2 lbs. heavier than one that is not tone-chambered of the same size.
This powerful, professional, quality instrument
is a steal at $2000.00
